The Pacific Northwest Missing Persons Project (PNWMPP) is a public benefit nonprofit organization 501(c)(3),
(EIN#: 99-3341342) dedicated to the search for and recovery of missing persons whose cases have gone cold in rural and remote locations of Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Montana. Our mission is to raise public awareness of these cases and to provide resources, support, and expertise to assist families and law enforcement in bringing home missing loved-ones.

PNWMPP encourages everyone who enjoys outdoor activities in the Pacific Northwest to review the map Below and read the descriptions of missing persons before heading into the wilderness. Knowledge and vigilance can help bring answers and closure to grieving families.

How long does a search operation take? Where do you sleep?

The duration varies depending on the case complexity and area to cover. Typically our team is able to spend 3-5 days at a time in most locations. Note: We do come back to cases and pick up where we left off.
Our team camps in the areas we are conducting field operations in.
This is to limit cost of field operations as well as ensuring every second of daylight is utilized in our search efforts.

Are volunteers needed for search Pacific Northwest Missing Persons Project missions?

We currently use our own vetted volunteers for all field operations.

How can I support the PNWMPP Mission?

Monetary donations, spreading the word, listening to our podcast, and sharing information about our organization with your friends and family helps us greatly in our mission.
We truly believe that when the formal searches end it's up to all of us, the community, to pick up where they left off.

Can families get updates on the search?

Our team provides regular updates to families and law enforcement agencies and maintain open communication channels.
Families generally get updates during planning stages, prior to field deployment, and updates are given during field operations if cell service is available nearby.
If a significant item of value is located, a Director travels to cell service to contact family and notify law enforcement.

What areas does PNWMPP cover for search operations?

Our focus is on rural and remote wilderness locations in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Montana.
